Don’s store has all your spring fishing needs covered! Good selection of bait and tackle.

Take a Kid fishing and introduce them to the great outdoors. Also remember that the big fish you fillete is the future of our fishery.  So keep a few small fish to eat and release those big girls.

Here are the Fishing reports this week from Helena FWP.

Helena area fish report for week of 9/8/2008.

Canyon Ferry: Shore fishing for rainbows has been picking up.  Worms with marshmallows at Magpie has seen the most action, but people are also catching a few fish at Court Sheriff and Confederate.  Boat anglers have done well trolling Rapalas 20-35 feet deep off White Earth.  Walleye fishing has been slow, with some action trolling Rapalas off Hellgate and Avalanche.  Perch fishing is slow, with a few caught on jigs around Goose Bay.    Eric Roberts, FWP, Helena

Hauser: Rainbow fishing from shore has been good at the Causeway.  Worms or leeches have been working best.  Some nice rainbows have been caught around York Bridge trolling cranks 15-20 feet deep.  Walleye fishing has slowed down with some small fish caught on jigs in the Causeway.  Eric Roberts, FWP, Helena

Holter:  Rainbow fishing has been good trolling cowbells tipped with a crawler early in the morning.  Most rainbow action has been from Split Rock to the Dam in 20 to 30 feet of water.  Walleye fishing has been slow with a few caught on jigs throughout the reservoir.  Eric Roberts, FWP, Helena

Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir:  The snagging season for Kokanee Salmon opened on Monday, September 1st and will run through October 31st.  Limits are 35 salmon daily with 70 in possession.  Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
