Take a Kid fishing and introduce them to the great
outdoors. Also remember that the big fish you fillete is the future of our
fishery. So keep a few small fish to eat and release those big girls.

Helena area fish report for week of 9/8/2008.
Canyon Ferry: Shore
fishing for rainbows has been picking up. Worms with marshmallows at Magpie
has seen the most action, but people are also catching a few fish at Court
Sheriff and Confederate. Boat anglers have done well trolling Rapalas 20-35
feet deep off White Earth. Walleye fishing has been slow, with some action
trolling Rapalas off Hellgate and Avalanche. Perch fishing is slow, with a
few caught on jigs around Goose Bay. Eric Roberts, FWP, Helena
Hauser: Rainbow fishing
from shore has been good at the Causeway. Worms or leeches have been working
best. Some nice rainbows have been caught around York Bridge trolling cranks
15-20 feet deep. Walleye fishing has slowed down with some small fish caught

Holter: Rainbow fishing
has been good trolling cowbells tipped with a crawler early in the morning.
Most rainbow action has been from Split Rock to the Dam in 20 to 30 feet of
water. Walleye fishing has been slow with a few caught on jigs throughout the

Helena Valley Regulating
Reservoir: The snagging season for Kokanee Salmon opened on Monday,
September 1st and will run through October 31st.
